Dawn Ament Brazil medical team post for Wednesday

To all who read this; it is Dawny reporting in for Tum (how the incredible Brazillians pronounce Tom Moen’s name, kinda) from the Amazonian town of San Sebastiano.

Two days ago 2 very different groups came together answering the Lord’s call.   Too few knew the 2 languages and it made the start somewhat hard but now we laugh, cry and SERVE together.  These last 2 days  Julia (a Brazillian nurse) and I paired up in triage to start the process of seeing what seemed like the entire town with each person having a long list of medical problems.  Julia knew some English and we were armed with her English-Portuguese dictionary and a desire to serve fully.  At first it was slow and the funniest was when Julia kept saying, “problem with ehron”.  I had no idea until she pointed to her lap and said “whoosh” to help me understand she was saying “urine”.  We laughed together and from then became instant friends learning each other’s language as we do our nursing thing.

Our small story is the same all over this ship of hope, healing, and prayer.   Cameras clicking always to help remember our new found brothers and sisters.   All of this team is joined together, deeply wanting to shine His light in every moment.  Obrigado Pai (thank you Lord) for bringing us together, only with us focused on Jesus can we pull this mission off.  Today the doctors saw sad cases, funny cases and as in all medical missions we spend time together talking about it over meals.

As I write this, despite everyone's incredible exhaustion, I am surrounded by laughter and joy of being with fellow Christians.  The doctors , translators, and dentists kept going until late today and yet they sit here too enjoying the fellowship.  To our families we love you and miss you; your sacrifice of holding down the home fort is so appreciated – I personally send my deepest love to my Larry.  We all promise to be less smelly and sweaty when we see your faces again. Keep us in prayer for tomorrow, our last day to serve- it will be bittersweet.  God bless to all our supporters and you who took to time to read my rambling!  Dawny
