Kenya blog 6.30.14 the Mountain Cafe kids

I had the privilege and unique opportunity to meet some of the Mountain Café kids.  For those who don’t know what Mountain Café kids are, let me explain.  A while back, Mountain used to spend money to provide donuts to our congregation following weekend church services. While we all loved partaking in donuts, the child sponsorship team suggested giving up the donuts and the decision was made to invest that money on an ongoing basis to sponsor 12 kids in Kenya.  Changing the lives of these kids is WAY more important than eating donuts that we don’t even need.  There is a statistic that says for every one child that is sponsored, 30 lives are impacted (the child’s family, friends, and community).  This means that 360 live have been impacted for the Kingdom of God simply by giving up eating donuts.

Pictured below are three of the Mountain Café kids that all attend the Joska girl’s boarding school.  I sat with these three beautiful girls and had a chance to share with them the story of how they became sponsored by our church.  They were amazed and so appreciative that we would give up something in order to provide them a chance to be educated.  They said that they felt encouraged by Mountains support and wanted me to share with Mountain their sincere gratitude and love.  When asked how our church can be praying for them, they asked for us to pray for their education so they can prosper and achieve their dreams, and for transformation to become better followers of Jesus.  Please pray for these girls as they are part of our church family!
