"Hola amigos!" update from Mon 11-Aug

Hola amigos!

CHRIS:
Condensing a full day into a single blog post is impossible!  Reflecting on the day, though, I realize that what makes each moment special is WHO we experience it with.  In just a short time our hearts have connected with the ministry workers here in Mexico, as well as the students and locals we continue to meet. And of course, we are getting to know each other better every day, too!

On Monday we started the day with devotions led by Sarah and Monica. They encouraged us to leave room for God - to have expectancy that He shows up in ways that we could never imagine. We spent the morning hearing from Kami and the rest of the El Pozo staff about what campus ministry is like in Mexico, and how Globalscope is building college leaders around the world.

We shifted into work mode after that - groups were painting, cleaning, weeding and even roofing!  Mike, Marcus, and I somehow became the roofing crew.  I have successfully avoided roofing for my entire life - until now.  We had a great lunch at the ministry house and continued with some more work.  It was really looking great - almost ready for students to arrive Tuesday night.

MARCUS:
After some more hard work, we washed up and went to Sonorenses, an amazing restaurant where we ate some incredible burritos. I got the burrito caramelo con sirloin. Eran muy buenos!

One of the most embarrassing moments of the trip happened when I tried ordering ice from the waiter and ended up with a bowl of sugar. I guess I have to touch up on some of my Spanish. Lol

We ended the night at "Las Luchas" where we watched some intense, yet slightly fake Mexican wrestling in Puebla. The main event was "Maximo", a rather flamboyant lucha who provided lots of entertainment.  It was definitely the highlight of the trip so far!

CHRIS:
Honestly, we are all pretty tired.  But the experiences have been worth it!  Everyone in our group has really been a trooper - trying new foods, going to unexpected places, and keeping positive attitudes when our plans change.  We are all incredibly excited about what God has in store for us as the week unfolds!

Much love,
Chris and Marcus, aka Chriscus
