March 30th
Today was the first build day!! The McDades arrived safely and the groups were off. Our team was split between three different homes. Today was one of the toughest physically but the most crucial because we were setting the foundation. Once we were all at our build sites we started by creating the frame for the foundation and then leveling the area. Once the area was leveled the cement came pouring in and getting smoothed out so that the home would be built on a solid, even foundation. If it was off even an inch the entire house would be off as well. This resonated to many of us knowing that God is our foundation and our dependence on Him.
After 12 hours of work we headed back to the community center where we were staying for some long awaited showers and food. We had a devo where we discussed how people laid down palms when Jesus came into the city and we wrote down things we needed to let go of or loosen or grip on a piece of paper and then laid those down on the ground to open our hearts to God to let Him work on us in those areas.
