March 29th
We arrived bright and early (4:30AM) at Mountain with our group, some great friends, and Tom Moen! All tired, but all more than ready for our journey to glorify our father in Acuna, Mexico. We circled up, prayed for our group and took the shuttle from Mountain to BWI where we got a bite to eat before our 7AM flight to ATL, then another flight to San Antonio. During this journey we were able to learn more about each other and bond as a group. Once in San Antonio, we got lunch with other groups from ATL and Spain that we became great friends with! We then went to go and rent a van that we drove across the border. That was quite the experience as I have never driven across the border like that before. The van ride was a bunch of fun as we watched some March Madness, cracked some jokes, and grew closer as a group. Once we arrived in Acuna, we made ourselves at home in the community center where all 87 of us serving that week slept in the gym on the basketball court together! Tonight myself and Gene were able to lead a great devotional, I read from John 1: 1-9 and then Gene spoke of his thoughts and feelings on it as the rest of the group furthered conversation. Marcus and I decided to test out the showers, to describe them in a word, COLD. I joke, but really they were freezing hahah, and we were blessed to have made it to Mexico safe and sound, ready for an exciting and incredible Holy Week!
