Nicaragua – Day 3
“If you dribble it they will come.” That spin-off phrase
from the movie “Field of Dreams” voiced by one of our guys rang true for our
first day of Barrio Basketball. Today was certainly a “Court of Dreams.”
In preparation for our morning, we had to relocate the hoops
from the church to the playground. As you can see from the picture, the
cross-like carrying of the hoops was symbolic of the message we hoped to
convey.

In all, about 75 kids of all ages from Loma Linda stepped
onto the court today, participating in a rotation of offense and defense
stations and basketball fun. We were encouraged by how much the kids embraced
the experience and how well they seem to grasp the essentials of the game.here were many special moments for each of the
guys, putting a smile on everyone’s faces and hearts. Steve and Mark got us off
to a strong start with the sharing of the gospel, communicating to their young
listeners the goodness of Creation and the God who not only made the trees and
the sky but each of them as well.
