Today we continued working at Casa
Verde. It is exciting to continue to see progress in some of the remodeling and
decorating of the campus house. Today half of the team focused on the foyer
room while the other half worked in the “Barn” where they host events.
The goal for remodeling the foyer
was to create a warm welcoming space for college students to grab a cup of
coffee or play some games. One way we accomplished this is by carpeting over
some old, faded tile. Today we finished the carpeting process. Along the way we
realized that the doors would need to be shaved down to freely open and close
over the carpet. Once we had the doors off the hinges and trimmed, we sanded
the surface down and gave them a fresh coat of paint. The room is really
starting to come alive. During the day some students would stop by to hang out,
and it was rewarding to see their expressions when they saw the new look.
The other half of the team
continued working in the “Barn”. We started a few different painting projects.
Sarah and Ashley worked on painting the Continents where Globalscope ministries
exist. Sam and Rut (Intern from Spain) worked on painting
a backdrop for a photo booth on another wall. I (Alan) worked on cutting out
words on wood and restoring and old picture frame.
To end the day the team went and
saw a movie together at a local movie theater. It was good to spend some
quality time with the team after a long day of working. The team is really
growing stronger together. This is clear in the way that the team has been
praying and encouraging one another. Several of the team members have caught a
stomach bug. Those this is not fun for those team members, we are using this to
bring our team together and not stray from the mission we all set out on. Your
prayers for healing and strength would be greatly appreciated by the team.
