As we sit here writing the blog for the last day, our minds are overwhelmed with memories, experiences and the thoughts of going back to every day life. Its hard to believe that tomorrow morning we will be boarding a bus to board a plane to fly back home.
After spending the week painting, cleaning, hanging out with students and visiting the orphanage, today was a day to take in the culture and history of Mexico. As usual in the cool of the morning we joined as a team for our devotional time. As we sat around and talked, it is easy to see how we have become a tight family. In just one week God has brought almost total strangers together and brought us closer to him and closer to each other.
We all piled up in a 15 passenger van and took the two hour bumpy ride to see the Teotihuacan. Which is an excavation sight of two pyramids and the ruins around it. As we climbed the 245 steps to get to the top of the sun pyramid, it was incredible to think people built them with sheer man power. Once at the top, our breath was taken away by the beauty of the land around us and how good God is when he created the earth and the beauty that is in every square inch of it.
We also discovered just how small the world is when we bumped into a girl from Harford County and were amazed when some of us had mutual friends with her. God always provides what we need and for some a touch of home was just that.
After climbing the pyramids and hanging around the ruins, we all climbed back in the van to head back to the BAM center. It was so encouraging to hear so many deep conversations happening between us, the interns and the missionaries. It was surely a bonding time for all.
Dinner tonight was good, but yet all were dreading the goodbyes that would follow. It is so interesting how those who were strangers to us at the beginning of the week have become close friends and goodbyes become so hard. We know however that this is not a final goodbye but rather a “see you later”.
As we pack up our belongings tonight, we are left were our memories and thoughts of how we have grown spiritually this week through divine encounters. Our collective prayer is that the high this trip has brought will not end when we step off the plane in Baltimore but rather will continue on as we go the path God has chosen for us.
So… “See you later Mexico”
