Day 2 began bright and EARLY, as we not only awoke to the
sound of roosters, but of a pig being slaughtered as well…GOOOOOD MORNING MontiCristi! We came together for a beautiful morning prayer, drank coffee and had
breakfast, before beginning to gather ourselves for our community event. Once
everyone was ready, we piled into a bus, and drove over to Buenos Aires, where
the church sponsored school is located. Imagine our surprise when we saw that
the school had doubled in size! Praise God!
Today was filled with lots of fellowship with the local
community. There was plenty of laughter, fun, children’s games, food and of
course baseball and dominoes! Lloyd and Tom joined the men for a game of
baseball; who knew Tom had such a good throwing arm. Lloyd manned the grill and
served la comida (lunch) at the park, Tom treated the kids to a little lesson
on his “missing finger” trick. The ladies played games with the children, loved
on babies, and ‘chatted’ with the women as much as we could, despite a language
barrier. Before the day ended, we had
children asking how long we would be here, as they enjoyed the outing, and
wanted more time with the team. Glory to God that we were able to make an impact
in the way that we did, the way HE wanted us to, as this event was not our
original plan for the day (we’d originally planned a community day at the
beach, but Hurricane Joaquin changed the course of our agenda).
We just completed a family style dinner together, with some
team members stating “this was the best thing I’ve eaten in a long time!” We look forward to an evening of fellowship
with the pastoral team here, and wherever the Spirit leads, we will go. We appreciate all of the prayers, and ask for
them to continue as we keep you in ours as well.
