Women's Conference blessed to "Brillar" = “Shine” DR Team Blog 10/7/15

What a wonderful day for our team!!   We began the day with breakfast and planning.   We held a Women’s Conference for 65 women around the theme of Brillar – “Shine.”  The women came a little later than we had expected, which was a tremendous blessing for willing but tired teammates.
Lloyd and Tom were the grill masters for the day!    140 pieces of chicken were lovingly massaged and marinated in a plastic trash can with limes and seasonings.   Yes…a trash can.   “Trash can chicken” is a winner and was thoroughly enjoyed by all!
We welcomed the women, many of whom arrived in buses and from the neighborhood with floral hair clips and a special stone.   They were so appreciative and thankful to be part of the day.   We were all blessed by Rayona’s worship and singing.   Po shared a wonderful devotion she had written with the women and helped them enter into a special time with Jesus.
Sara provided photography for the day and photographed each special woman.  It was amazing  to see the women smile, pose and shine in each photo.   We all laughed as one of the women pulled out a “selfie stick” to photo with her friends and us!  Sara also shared her testimony, which was real, authentic and compelling.   She shared a story of God’s goodness, redemption and power in her life.     It was beautifully received by the women and a gift to us all.
Jenny had a great time coming along Martha and leading the day.   She was able to greet and welcome the women, so that each would feel special and loved.    It was wonderful to see Jenny reconnect with so many special women, including a dear lady named Francisca, whom she affectionately calls “Mommy.”
Susan led a fantastic teach time around the story of Jesus and the Samaritan woman.  It was a powerful teaching, which offered a personal glimpse into Susan’s heart for our God and for other women to know Him too.
This afternoon we headed to the beach for a short time of fun and relaxation.  It is beautiful here!
Tonight we shared in a special dinner which consisted hot macaroni salad with cheese, onions, and peppers. Alongside of the macaroni was potato chips, Doritos, and Kola real.
As we write this blog, the men are holding their final dominoes outreach event with 30ish men.
This is day two of two for the domino night and the two winners over the last couple of days went head to head for bragging rights of grand champion; we had two first prizes that consisted of a compra (groceries) and the grand prize was a domino table.
The team women prepared brownies for them to enjoy.    The women went on a prayer walk around the town and had ice cream and a special shop called Bon.
We are thankful for every moment of relationships, awesome Jesus moments and the gift of one another.
We are praying for you and look forward being reunited with family and friends.  We will greatly miss our Dominican family!
