Jambo!
Greetings from Kenya… Gosh where to begin. After an
uneventful arrival, we made it to Kenya. We PRAISE THE LORD for a safe
trip. We have been blessed to stay with Andria a missionary at MOHI and was
able to rest well last night.
Today we met with Rafael at MOHI for an orientation and
toured the center. It was such a joyful sound hearing the children in
their classrooms and seeing the devoted teachers interacting with them. Such a stark
contrast to our visit in the slums of the Marthare Valley. However, we did see
the hope we have in Jesus ever so present there. You couldn’t help but want to
love on all the little children playing in the streets, finding such pleasure
in getting their pictures taken. The sights and smells were overwhelming,
and we left feeling heavy hearted.
We also had the opportunity to make home visits in the
slums. They were so excited to invite us into their homes and share a
portion of their life with us. As we visited with Monica she requested prayer
for her children, including Regina, her daughter, waiting to enter high school.
Through her eyes, you could see how much she loved her children.
Our friends, Kylie, Andria and Alicia, took us to Amani ya
Juu, meaning Peace from Above. This is a sewing and reconciliation program for
marginalized women in Africa. Many have left abusive situations to come and
gain experience and regain stability in their lives. We had the pleasure of
touring the sewing facility and were honored to meet the women there.
Jesus was in the midst of it all and we are grateful. He is
revealing His light and beauty in the hardest places. Please continue to pray
for our team and the people of Kenya.
Much love,
Kim and Candy
