Wow! What a day in the DR! There are so many moments to share, that it is
difficult to speak of only a few. We
began by sending some of the team to construct a kitchen for one of the
neighbors. Teddy, TJ, Tom, Lloyd,
Silvia, Gina, Ellie, Zac and Lucy all had a hand in the construction. Watching the delighted expression on the
owner’s face as this pile of scrap wood became a brand new room in her home was
priceless. In return, her hospitality to
us came in a major “High” moment for us a she offered us a 2.5liter bottle of
Coca-cola!
After lunch
(black porgie), some returned to the construction site. Rayona worked on preparing for tomorrows
women’s event and others went to the local hospital to pray and offer gift bags
of toiletries to the patients. We were
welcomed into the patient rooms on the Medical floor and ER. This never would
have been possible in the U.S.! The
patients and families were genuinely appreciative, as well as the team of
nurses that we met.
We ended
our day with an awesome worship service with music provided by another
missionary team from TN. Our own TJ and
Rayona shared their testimonies. The worship service was topped off by Rayona singing “He’s a good, good Father”. We all agreed that the Holy Spirit was
palpable in the room, leaving tears of joy and love in many of our eyes.
The team
continues to grow stronger and stronger bonds with one another and our brothers
and sisters here in the DR. As we
stumbled off to our beds, some with sunburn, some with other minor physical
challenges and all of us with more than a little dirt and sweat, we will rest
well knowing it is all for God’s glory .
