Joppa sure is dark at 3:15am, but 9 short term missionaries
joined many supportive MCCers to start a 6 day journey to Acuna Mexico to build
a house for a family of four selected by local churches. After much comraderie
and prayer, we nine left Joppa headed for BWI and a Southwest flight to Dallas
and then San Antonio.
Our flights were uneventful and we safely landed in San
Antonio. Along with our bags! We rented one vehicle for us and bags and
several safe hours later pleasantly crossed the border into Mexico after
meeting our construction leader Nick from Casas por Cristo for a very authentic
TexMex lunch.
Once in Mexico, we rendezvoused with 7 eager missionaries
from El Pozo. What a great fun group! They will round out our build team at 17
(including Nick). We accompanied Nick to pick up our trailer of tools and while
on the way we Unleashed Love on a few men who were pushing a disabled car
(unsuccessfully because after it jumped they realized they had no gas!) Smiles
among all. Our overnight accommodations are at a local chuch called Rios de
Agua Viva and we start tomorrow on the road at 7:30am.
Peace and blessings from all of us.
