Building Lockers, Building Lives, Investing in Children in the Mathare Valley
Another Yay God day in Kenya. The first set of pictures in today's upload shows Jim and Mike working with Moses and the boys, teaching them carpentry skills. We spent the day doing math to determine the dimensions of the lockers (desks), measuring twice and cutting once. By the end of the day, we had all of the cuts necessary for 12 lockers. Assembly starts tomorrow! More importantly, Jim and Mike had the opportunity to teach, pray for, pray with and impart lessons of teamwork to 14 young men (boys) today. The guys really took to the task and did a great job.
During devotion time, Jim and Mike were able to share a character building lesson on dependability to the guys and women at the Kariobangi training center. A separate video of worship time during devotions will be uploaded.
Sue, Jennifer and Debbie spent the day in several different centers, seeing the facilities (especially the libraries), including Kariobangi, Babadogo, Kosovo and Korogocho. The libraries and centers are vastly different, and some are more advanced then others, but in all cases, many children are being impacted by the love of Jesus through MoHi.
The last 2 pictures show the stark difference between a sponsored child and non sponsored child...if that compels you to action, check out how you can get involved at mohiafrica.org.
