Prayer IS the greater work!

Although we're 3 hours behind Maryland, we're all accommodating the time difference and getting good sleep time. However, several of us continue to get up very early so we're taking early morning walks around dawn. Like at home, the critters are up early and we're seeing different birds than we see in MD. In the east, we have only one species of hummingbird--ruby throated--but here in the west they also have a 2nd kind of hummingbird--rufous hummingbird. With that background, our morning coffees enjoy the sound of the hummingbirds sipping the sugar water our hostess Ms Lottie maintains every morning.

But hummingbirds aren't the only critter patroling the residential area. This morning we awoke to a knocked over hummingbird feeder on the deck and the paw prints of a bear cub imprinted in the sugar water. Yes, we too are are wondering where the paw prints are for the mother bear!

Kat High joined us for breakfast and devotions (our daily devotions are usually 1+ hours) and then we departed for a busy day!

We started the day with a trip to "prayer mountain"-a high point overlooking the valley on which 3 crosses are placed. A very solemn place well situated for private reflection and prayer. Stephan and several students joined us.

We then joined the Indiana missionary group in a luncheon for local residents. We were treated to locally fried Apache bread topped with bean sauce, tomatoes and lettuce. Much conversation among the 50+ diners.

Then we joined the Indiana group and many teenagers in a trip to Camp Grace for a game of "knockerball"--an inflated ball which you enter in the middle and it is equipped with straps so you can run around. Make no mistake--the purpose is to run into one another to see if you can knock the other person down. The inflattable ball protects you but it is no easy feat getting back up. Think of a turtle on its back. Much fun was had by all. No injuries! When not knockerballing, many were engaged in tree climbing and othet feats of gravity defying antics. Much community shared by the 50+ people in attendance.

We then returned to our residence and had dinner with Ms Lottie, Stephan and his family.  Much good conversation including long term plans for AYM and the role we could play in its success.

After devotions and private readings,
lights out by 10pm.
