Fully rested, the team started the day with a hearty
breakfast and then devotions. The weather threatened rain all day as this is
the monsoon season and it did not disappoint. It rained throughout the day but
the team adjusted schedules to accommodate the weather.
Making one's own clothes and accessories is a long time
skill on the reservation so Jean, Beth, Ashley and Allison attended church to
participate in sewing, knitting and talking. They were joined by 12 residents
in making purses, aprons, and fabrics for dolls.
Meanwhile, Larry, Mike, Cheryl and Jonathan joined Stephan
in his new horse endeavor. Yes, he bought two horses. Although new to the area,
Stephan observed 2 malnutritioned horses in the area and sought to help them
out. His efforts eventually led to buying both horses and coordinating with a
volunteer veterinary group to provide the horses with some needed immediate
care. In addition to remedying an immediate dire situation for the horses,
Stephan envisioned using the horses to help get the message out about AYM's
mission and draw more children to the mission.
With that background, the team helped round up the horses,
put them in the trailer, buy hay and alfalfa, and move them to their new home
in a corral behind a local supportive veterinarian. The team certainly learned
new skills while helping advance AYM's mission.
The team prepared dinner for ourselves, AYM staff and
families-- 20+ people. Following dinner, fellowship continued with various
games,
Many of them new to us. We concluded the night with
devotions and then lights out at 10pm.
