ENGLAND 2017
Yesterday was the Messy Church and Street Pastors day.
Messy Church is way of inviting unchurched people to a church outreach event. There's food, crafts for children, songs and a Bible story. So Teddy and I helped set up tables and chairs. The Messy Church volunteers brought in lots and lots of food, set up the PA system and just finished before we opened the doors for the community.  Out of the 37 people there about 29 were from the community and there were 3 new families. The most important part if this whole gathering was making sure we met the people who showed up. The Bible story was about Zacchaeus. They don't sing 'A wee little man' they sing 'a very little man. Fun stuff! Pictures to follow.
Street Pastors starts at 10 pm and goes to 3:30/4:00 am. We were only there for the first two hours.  We walked around Rugby town center where most of the bars were clustered.  We spoke to and helped out a couple of homeless people and chatted with others and gave out 'lollies' as we walked aound. There were 6 of us so we split up into two groups of 3 each. Just having our presence there was a help in showing some that there are people who do care for them. The Street Pastors ministry is a Christian based ministry that just helps out where they can. They are not there to break up fights or replace the police, but they are there to offer a helping hand where they can. We found ourselves picking up bottles both whole and broken (So no one can use them in a fight). But being a presence there I think was accepted by the majority if people. I took a picture of Teddy wearing the Street Pastors vest. There is also a picture of Marvin a Street Pastor and his uncle and niece who we met in a Jamacia themed bar.
