I love how God throws us curveballs during our GO Trips around the world. Yesterday He "threw" us 15 year old Marco from New York! Our Team together with our Brazilian friends were in a neighboring town to Pianco and stopped at a mini (still large though) statue of Christ the Redemer like the one in Rio.
There was a young man there sporting a cowboy hat and LOTS of hair who heard us speaking English and come to meet us. Marco was there visiting family for the first time in is 17 years of life and was excited to see other English speakers, even though his Portuguese was pretty good). His mom is Brazilian and still lives in NYC.
I noticed Marco was wearing a cross around his neck so I asked if he knew Jesus to which he said a resounding YES! He told us his story of depression and anxiety in his early teen years and a desire to end his life a couple years ago. That was when he "accidentally" picked up a Bible and read Matthew 10...
Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

Through those verses Marco learned he had infinite value in God's eyes and wanted to live to glorify this lover of his soul. Keep praying for Marco...17 years and walking with Jesus now.
