Team Italy and our highlights..
Mountain Christian Church has supported Andrea and Heather Gentile in Italy for over 25 years. Their Team and church are working in a very hard place where many people assume their Italian/Catholic heritage is all God requires of them but there is very little genuine relationship with the Risen Jesus. MUCH of their ministry is simply providing fun and inviting activities to help people perhaps see Jesus again for the first time...that's where we helped...
TUESDAY night we hosted a paint night at the church for some fun and creative interaction...Wisdom was our teacher...
All day WEDNESDAY we invested a day at the International Christian Academy School with Kids Games and Crafts. Though an ouvert Christian School, about half of the International Students are of other faiths...
Our friend and host, Dot, in whose house we stayed is a teacher at the school and has lots of opportunities to share her faith there (she's the one in green shirt above). We taught about prayer and how we can talk with GOD.
THURSDAY we headed to Rome on the train to see the amazing colosseum...
A highlight for us though was meeting up with new members of the Italy Mission Team, Claudio and Claudia who toured us around the city most of the day. Pictured here with Theresa...
As part of the Team in Italy they are pioneering a Digital Disciplemaking strategy to reach into communities. They mention that many Italians would never come into a church building/service so they take the Gospel digital...pray for them. They asked us to join them at their house our last day there so we went to pray, worship, read scripture and bless their home...they experience a lot of spiritual warfare...
FRIDAY morning we joined up with Faith York in the city to prayer walk and share our faith in a local park. Great opportunity for the Spirit to open doors to faith conversations.
Throughout the week we helped clean, paint, rearrange and organize the existing space where the church meets...it was great for our Team to work together to encourage the local body there in Ciampino...
...speaking of the Team, this was a great one...enjoy some pics...
In the end...when all is said and done we are encouraged by these words from Andrea Gentile regarding our time with them...
Hey Tom,
We really enjoyed having you all with us. I think this was the most successful GoTeam we have had, in terms of connecting with people in our areas.
Thank you for helping us creating those opportunities.
AMEN!
