Time on the Coast at Angaza Camp

Monday, 2/26-Tues, 2/27

Some of us traveled by plane from Nairobi to Malindi on Monday to visit Angaza Camp and the newest MOHI school.

Tuesday, Feb 27
Watching the sun rise over the Indian Ocean in Malindi was quite restorative. Anticipating our visit to Angaza Camp, we quietly invited the day to come upon us reveling at the goodness of God's creation as his subtle colors came to life.

(Note: Mountain is very involved in supporting Angaza and we were excited to be able to see it for ourselves. This camp is attended by all 6th grade MOHI students throughout Kenya, to help them strengthen their faith, discover how much God loves them, and to learn about God's creation and how to care for it.)

After breakfast we arrived at the camp and shared in celebration and worship time.  Dancing, singing, and worshiping with the girls was so much fun and by the end, we were all laughing, smiling, holding hands and hugging.

After our short visit, we loaded the bus and headed to the newest MOHI school called Chumani. This school, opened only 6 months ago, has already grown from 204 to 405 students, most of whom are not sponsored. It was hard not to want to scoop up all of these littles and bring them home. This school currently serves  PP1(pre-primary)- grade 3, but will eventually serve students up to 9th grade.

After being entertained by the sweetest little singing students ever, and given a short history of the birth of the school from Pastor Dan, we moved on to a tour. Again, the faces, sights, and sounds tugged at our heart strings. All too fast, however, our time here ended.

We went back to Angaza to escort the 6th graders on their first journey ever to the ocean. They were so excited, and with their pool noodles in hand, ran down to the beach with smiles as bright as the sun that hung in the sky.

This was our last impression of Angaza Camp and the joy it brings to so, so many MOHI students. But as much as we would have liked to stay in this experience, we had another flight to catch...and off we went again.
