on the ground in MX and doing our thing

Friday was a bit of a blur. We woke up at 5 AM in Houston, got picked up from the airport and did stuff all day until 11 PM. We were pretty tired at the end of Friday. We have loved meeting the team and some of the students while we prepped Casa Verde for a community event that is occurring Saturday and Sunday. We got to go to the Puebla soccer game with the team and some students. On Saturday, we helped at the Bazaar (the event at Casa Verde). We’re all making great connections, and we’re all getting settled in after a good night sleep. The girls have been amazed by the warm hospitality from students and staff alike, and they’re also seeing themselves putting themselves out there more to meet new people. It’s cool to see them pushing themselves out of their comfort zone and seeing how God is giving them peace, courage, and opportunity to build relationships.
And a personal fun thing for me: when I went upstairs in the new Casa Verde for the first time, the area looked very familiar. I asked Karla what used to be here, and she said it was a restaurant bar called Tiki. The 2014 trip was a special group and we ended our trip with the El Pozo team at this place. I took a picture of where our table was (I wish we took a picture in 2014). I was very amazed to see how 10 years ago, we had a special moment between the Mountain and El Pozo in this place and now this is the place where college students are loved and taught about the love of Jesus.
