VBS today for 224 kids in 2nd and 3rd grades...hundreds more to come, and we wouldn't have it any other way!!!
One of the debriefing exercises we do while fielded is the ONE WORD declaration. It's designed to make us sum up the whole day, how I'm feeling, my state of mind in ONE WORD! Try it, it's not as easy as it sounds...here are the Teams words...
Z:
Word for today...humbled!
My Kenya Son and Daughter are going to teach me a lot.
Linda...
Word for today…inspired!
The love, excitement and joy the children have makes me want to do more and to be a better person.
Chuck:
Word for the day: ECSTATIC !
The wonderful atmosphere created at MOHI by the kids and staff is contagious. Keeps me wanting more. AND I met my Kenya son. Hard to do better than that.
Mike:
Word of the day is celebration!
Ari:
word for the day: encouraged!
After learning the story of MOHI, and getting to be a part of it, I am ENCOURAGED thinking about what impact I can make here, there, and everywhere. I decided to sponsor a little girl today, meet her, and love on her as she loved on me. I can’t wait to see what God will do in her life
Lisa:
My word of the day is trust!
Throughout the day, I found myself scanning little faces, hoping to feel that divine connection to a child I could sponsor. (I wanted to sponsor them ALL) I even inquired about four sweet ones, only to learn they were already sponsored (praise God!). I trust that if I’m meant to pour into the life of a child in this way, God will make the path clear. I’d love your prayers please…that I remain open, present, and ready to be used to make a lasting difference…🙏
Sam:
My word today is AWESTRUCK!
At how GOD works before, during, and after. HE has blessed beyond measure, as HE always does. Today’s activities went well and it’s not because if anything we did, but because of WHO GOD is. Every encounter is GOD appointed and I’m grateful to be part of the mission HE is doing here in Kenya. The MOHI staff is accommodating and just simply good at what they do. I was incredibly blessed to meet our sponsored boy, Thomas, for the first time. Although he doesn’t “look” happy in the photo, trust me when I say that he was so happy to finally meet me after months of messages. He told his social worker that he thinks he’s going to meet “my” Samantha. As I left him today he looked at me and said “Will you come back tomorrow?” I’m hoping to see him one more time before I leave. He is smart, kind, and gentle. He hugged me so tight when we parted.
Preston:
My word for the day is full!
Seeing all the kids have such a fun day doing the vbs was an amazing sight to see. They showed us so much love and it was amazing. I feel full because of how much they loved us. The games and the cheering and the dancing is amazing. These kids are awesome.
Tom:
My word is Shepherd!
The teachers, social workers, and staff Shephard the children of MOHI so well! And Pastor Thomas (neither of us are doubters) is the Chaplain at the Pangani Center...he shepherds kids and adults toward Jesus...that's AWESOME! Here he is...
