retreat weekend with 16 University students

A high point of our time here in Thailand that we prepared for was a students retreat where we could talk a lot with students from various backgrounds and faiths...here are some of our friends.
Hello All , like to introduce you to my one of my New Friends her name is Gun and she is from Buri Ram, Thailand which is in the southeast!
Gun is Buddhist and we been talking for two days , we been working on her heart ❤️ and soul to help her gain the concept of who God really is and what he has done for me and many Christians throughout the World 🌎, she is a nonbeliever in God and feels the world was made by Ai and feels the book of Genesis is a fairy tale. So I last said to her we as a group will pray for her in believing in God and one day accepting Jesus into her life , so I believe it will take time but she has been with Grapevine for a year now and she is almost there, for her boyfriend and me have spoken the same words as God would have proclaimed us to do for her , so she has heard from two different people from two parts of the world ! Amen 🙏
Had a great time reconnecting with Hima at the retreat this year. Hima is from Sri Lanka. He and I met last year at the retreat and connected thru sports, Golden State Warriors, Steph Curry and I enjoyed teaching him about American football and my favorite teams- Minnesota Vikings and Iowa State Cyclones!
Shortly after last year's retreat Hima was baptized! I enjoyed catching up with him and learning about his current job as a software developer. It was amazing to see how God had worked in his life over the past year. Please pray that Hima will continue to grow in his faith and be bold in sharing God's love with all those at his workplace and that he would stay connected to the Grapevine ministry family.

Sharing  the good news about Jesus comes in many ways.
During the Grapevine Retreat, I had a chance to spend time with my new friend, Samuel from Liberia. During our visit to the Thailand National Park, we spent time walking with Wendy (ABR campus) and talking about the love of Jesus and His Majesty through nature. We were reminded that everything God creates is beautiful and purposeful.
I also spent time with Janus from the Philippines and Pan from  Miramar during our lunch at an authentic Thai restaurant. Janus and I shared our love of Jesus and talked about Jonathan Roumie series/movies that we love: The Chosen and Jesus Revolution.
Language was a bit of a barrier but sharing about God through media and nature broke down all barriers.

During our time at the retreat while I spent a lot of time feeding everyone with food, I was able to have several conversations with Zamo.  She is such a confident loving spirit. She is so full of life and has a lot of knowledge and wisdom to share with others. We bonded over fitness and food! As we talked thru our cultural differences we realized that we also share a love for God. While she has not been baptized yet, Zamo feels the love and the presence of Christ. She knows that he is a loving God. She tried to explain how she prays and he provides her guidance. She said at times I pray and ask for direction and she doesn’t understand how but an answer, like a voice, comes from within that gives her the knowledge that she needs. I explained to her that this is the Holy Spirit filling her with knowledge. The conversations with her will last a lifetime for me of a remembrance of how two cultures can overcome all differences and unit as family thru Christ.

I got to have a great conversation with my new friend Noon during dinner last night. We got to talk about her dream of traveling the world and visiting Venice Italy. She is from Myanmar and I got to hear about how she grew up and how her country is going through troubling times right now. We also talked about relationships and figuring out how to find the ideal partner to do life with. I got to tell her about being with someone who makes her better and where you both elevate each other. I got to tell her about my job as a worship pastor and how it was my dream job and I prayed to God about it. She was very cool and she ended up beating me in uno which I was sad about! Great time hanging out and meeting a new friend!
