Today we had the incredible privilege of spending the day with our sponsor child, John. We began sponsoring him in December, and finally getting to meet him was a gift I will never forget.
John is sweet, kind, quiet, and gentle. He was shy at first, but as the day went on, he slowly opened up and became such a bright ray of sunshine.
The children of Mathare Valley live in conditions that are difficult to comprehend, yet they radiate joy, love, and resilience. Through sponsorship, John is able to grow in Christ, receive an education, and have access to regular meals that he may not otherwise have.
I came on this mission hoping to be a blessing to others, but what I have discovered is that I am the one being blessed. Walking through Mathare Valley has forever changed the way I see the world.
Tonight, my prayer is for the more than 6,000 children still waiting for sponsorship. May each one find someone with an open heart willing to say yes. ❤️
