Wednesday Wisdom

Today was the longest day we have had since we have been here—leaving the church at 8:30am and starting our day. First, we went to the school in Buenos Aires, where Gina led our project of collecting information from the 138 kids for the purpose of updating sponsorship information so that we can better gain the support that they so desperately need. It was a little chaotic at first, but we had a blast! Kids swarmed around TJ and Ellie (aka the Michelin lady) because they thought they were Ken and Barbie. Lucy also really connected with the kids, especially one who shared her same name. We came back from the school, with scratches and braided hair, on a bumpy ride alongside water containers in the back of a pickup truck. We returned to the church and began preparing for the women’s conference, led by Lydia. Chef Teddy (aka the Michelin man) slaved away in the kitchen preparing a delicious meal for 100 people while the rest of the men set up chairs and tables. Lydia led a moving conversation about having a humble and beautiful heart, while also leading the women in a heart painting with a Bible verse. Then Gina talked to the women about health concerns imperative to them. While the women’s night was occurring, the men took a walk through town to Helado Bon for ice cream. They really enjoyed this time of fellowship and being with one another, telling stories and seeing packs of dogs along the way. We had a long day, but today we really all found our niche and felt one as a team. We are going to bed very tired, getting rid of sunburns and stomach aches, hopeful for another ministry-filled day tomorrow.

Blessings from the Dominican Republic,

Teddy and Ellie (The Michelin People)
