The team awoke and immediately got busy with breakfast and
devotions as the weather forecast was for rain again starting in the afternoon
and we had a busy schedule.
The men attended the White Mountain Christian Church prayer
luncheon at which 50+ male residents-many homeless-attended. After the service
the church provided a full hot meal to all. The Indiana men missionaries
attended too and we all were able to break bread and converse with many very
friendly residents.
We picked up some residents and AYM staff and proceeded to
tour the old Fort Apache which was established around the Civil War and
introduced Apache Warriors to service with the US Cavalry as scouts. This
relationship grew over time helping both parties establish trust and other
relationships. To further know the rich Apache culture, we toured the Fort
Apache Museum which displayed many artifacts and explained many customs and
beliefs of the Apache Nation including their understanding of creation.
The AYM/MCC team then explored the Kinishba ruins which were
established around 800 A.D. (1200 years ago!) and is part of the White Mountain
Apache tribe culture.
We returned home and prepared dinner for ourselves and AYM
staff-some 20 people- and all participated in prayers and devotions afterward.
We concluded the day with a short planning session for Wednesday's very busy
schedule with the children. Read tomorrow's blog about Christians and
Knockerballs!
Lights out at 10pm. Great day. Praise God!
