We had an opportunity to meet Ray at the basketball 🏀 courts at the Thammasat University! He was the nominated captain around the courts! Highly respected, very positive, and he engaged us with the community of students! He made sure we got on the courts and kept the flow with the games in the area! He was pretty cool to compete with and he was a positive force on and off the court!

On Souper Tuesday,  we divided into small groups to discuss some questions posed to us after watching an episode of The Chosen about the woman at the well. Although we had a diverse cultural group,  there was only one non- Christian - a Buddhist. His name is Tin. Discussion questions focused on unconditional love. What is it? Do you deserve it? Etc. Tin was not familiar with this concept. It was difficult for him to articulate his ideas, partially because he was trying translate the correct words that would relay his thoughts. He did manage to convey them and it was great to see that he eventually grasped the concept of unconditional love. Planting seeds.

Encouragement for Juice
~ Today I want to lift up my friend Juice. We met playing basketball, he was very interested and eager to ask us questions, about who we were and what we were doing here. And even after we explained to him that we were a group of friends that met through our faith. He chose to stay with us through the course of the day. In all I just want to encourage him to keep showing up, keep asking questions, keep seeking, and keep being curious!!

Over the past few days, I have been getting to know various people, but one that has really stuck out to me is Sheldon. Sheldon is from India, but now lives in Thailand with his wife to help grow Grapevine. He grew up Christian, but decided in his teenage years to follow hinduism. He gave his life to Christ again and has been following ever since.  He is humble, quiet, and super fun to be around. This weekend at the retreat, sheldon, his wife, daughter and I are going to talk about what it looked like living in India, following hinduism, and coming back to Christianity, as well as why they came to Thailand. I am praying for fruitful conversation, and am looking forward to what God will show me through this!

Connection into God’s Greater family - for Putter.  Putter is the very first Thai student that I encountered at Grapevine and honestly is kind of a ‘staple member’ there since he lives upstairs temporarily.  He is there helping out and getting to know us a little more as we go about our day’s activities.  I’ve had several conversations with him,  learning how he he has no siblings and no longer any parents… or the grandparent that raised him.  He is seeking family (although not stated, just sensed), and seems to so easily make friends (and invite friends!) into the Grapevine Family that he has encountered.  There is no greater family than God’s family surrounding him … and it is my prayer that he sees this more fully in time.  The God shaped hole he has can only be filled by God and his love.  I pray that the community of a church family providing mentors, role models, and siblings in Christ in HIS family will lead him forward, encourage him, hold him accountable, and strengthen him to live WITH Jesus by his side. I look forward to the retreat ahead and more discussions to come ❤️

Keep praying...a few more days to invest in ministry here!
